The University of Southampton’s Energy and Climate Change Division will be hosting the PRIMaRE Summer School 2021, Experimental testing to quantify the performance of tidal turbines. The Summer School is jointly organised with Cardiff University’s Marine Energy Research Group and is the third in a series of  high level Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes run by PRIMaRE partners following hot on the heels of the European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference in Plymouth.

The Summer School is aimed for PhD students, early career researchers and industry practitioners and will focus on experimental testing and design of marine current turbines. Attendance at the Summer School is free but places are limited and allocated competitively (see application page). The Summer School will be delivered in-person at the Boldrewood Innovation Campus at the University of Southampton where we plan to carry out experimental laboratory-scale testing of subsystems relating to marine current energy devices.

The Summer School will be led by Professor AbuBakr Bahaj (University of Southampton) and Professor Tim O’Doherty (Cardiff University) with expert invited speakers on a host of topics.

If you wish to attend the PRIMaRE Summer School please fill in the application form by 12:00 BST Friday 13th August with successful applicants notified via e-mail by Friday 20th August.
