Jeremy Smith

Jeremy Smith

Founder and Managing Director, QED Naval Ltd.

Jeremy founded QED Naval in March 2008 and manages business development for the company. Jeremy is used to delivering large scale procurement projects in his previous role within the Structures’ Delegated Design Authority (DDA) on the Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier project. This was built on over a decades’ involvement in marine structures R&D within the ship and submarine structures departments at QinetiQ and its forebears DERA and DRA.

Oral presentation instructions

  • Due to the packed agenda, oral presentations are strictly limited to 9 minutes (to allow 1 minute for changeover). 10 minutes of questions will be taken together at the end of each session (this may be split between groups of three presentations).
  • All presenters have been sent a link to upload their presentation file prior to the conference (deadline: 17:00 BST Monday 24 June) – this is essential due to the tight timings and volume of presentations.
  • Please make yourself known to your session chair in the break before your session, or during the registration period if presenting in the first session.

Poster instructions

Posters should be A0 portrait (approx 1.2m tall, 0.85m wide). Please include author names and affiliations along with the title as in the accepted abstract. The design of the poster is your choice – typically a balance of images and text, with two columns and text readable from ~1.5m distance. The paper number, date, etc. are not needed (so you can re-use the poster in future). You will need to print the poster and bring it with you; a member of the conference team will be available to help put up the poster from 8-9am on both days. Posters will be viewable during coffee breaks, so you may want to stand by your poster during these times.

About the PRIMaRE consortium

A consortium of marine renewable energy experts across higher education, research and industry have joined together to establish a ‘network of excellence’ for the south of the country.
The Universities of Plymouth, Exeter, Southampton, Bristol and Bath, along with the Marine Biological Association and Plymouth Marine Laboratory, have agreed to work together on research projects across the spectrum of marine renewables.
Completing the line-up of the Partnership for Research in Marine Renewable Energy (PRIMaRE) is the South West Marine Energy Park and the Wave Hub facility off the north coast of Cornwall, who will act as conduits between the research community and industry.
